Threads of Peru Blog
Threads of Peru brought together everything I loved most: the preservation of craftsmanship, weaving, natural dyeing, the quality of wool. That is why I chose to come and discover their work and help the association.
Anna has taken a break from working in the charity sector in the UK to explore her other interests of travel and textiles. Since December 2018 when she first left the UK, she has witnessed first hand the transformative power of craft throughout Latin America to women, their families and the wider community. These experiences have deepened her commitment to ethical fashion and buying fair trade products.
Lydia Estes joins Threads of Peru between semesters during her study abroad year. "Growing up around strong and creative women partly influenced my enthusiasm about all things female empowerment, bridging cultures through art, and sustainable and fair-trade fashion, as well. When I learned about Threads of Peru, I was convinced it perfectly blended my focuses and would provide a distinct perspective on the topic compared to what I’ve found so far in the Southern Cone."
