Our project is based on the values of fair trade and sustainable development, while helping to preserve an ancient craft and provide artisans in remote Andean villages with economic opportunity.
We offer a wholesale collection showcasing products such as ponchos, ruanas/wraps, scarves, hats, and home goods, made of alpaca and wool. We have implemented new color palettes along with dyeing and weaving techniques for a renovated look.
with a longer production timeline.
Past Collections
Our wholesale items are sourced from weavers who live and work in rural villages in the Sacred Valley region of Peru. To learn more about these villages see our Artisan Co-op page.
We source much of our fiber from the renowned alpaca supplier, Michell: "With more than 81 years experience and know-how in processing Alpaca, Michell & Co. is the pioneer and the world's leading producer and exporter of Alpaca tops and yarns." Threads of Peru has visited the Michell factories in person and we have seen first-hand how well they run their business. To learn more about Michell's social ethical practice, visit their page on Sustainability Programmes.
Another supplier of both sheep and alpaca wool for our collections comes from Inca Tops: "We have spent more than 60 years trying to understand and define our philosophy of life, which we have called Alpaca is a Lifestyle, in honor of the Peruvian Alpaca: the source of inspiration that drives us to be better each day." Learn about Inca Tops' efforts to create a more sustainable alpaca industry on their page about Traceable Alpaca.
