PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
The Pitukiska Baby Alpaca Toque Chullo Hats, knit by hand in sumptuously soft baby alpaca, are treasures of Andean history!
Known as chullos (pronounced chul-yoh) in Quechua, they were first made thousands of years ago out of necessity: temperatures in the high Andes often fall below freezing, with a biting wind that freezes your ears! The earflaps offer protection from the cold.
WHO MADE THIS PITUKISKA BABY ALPACA CHULLO HAT?
Each Pitukiska Baby Alpaca Chullo Hat is made by an indigenous artisan in the high Andean community of Pitukiska, in the Mapacho River Valley, with hand-spun wool and/or alpaca fiber from free-range alpaca and sheep herds and natural dye materials. As each chullo is hand-made, each one is unique and colours and designs may not be exactly as in the photo.
