Colors of Peru: Style of Travel, Difficulty and Logistics

Style of Travel
You will be accompanied on this trip by Threads of Peru representative, someone who has lived in Peru for years and has cultivated a deep connection to the culture and its people. Some of our tour leaders are also board members or long term employees of Threads of Peru, and in addition to providing knowledge of the culture, are passionate about textiles!
All transport is in a private, air-conditioned/heated van or bus, with a professional driver. In addition to being accompanied by a Threads of Peru rep who will give unique insight into Peru and be able to smooth over some of the inconveniences of travel to a developing nation, each day we will also have an expert Peru guide on hand, with a vast wealth of local knowledge.

Accommodation
We have chosen our very favorite hotels: small, boutique hotels that have been lovingly created, filled with works of art, colorful textiles, and full of character. Each hotel has been hand-picked to create a wonderful experience, a welcoming and restful place to return to each night!

Comfort: cute, small and friendly hotels with an artistic bent. Approximately 3 star rating.

Is this trip suitable for you?
This trip requires an open mind and a sense of adventure. We stay in well-appointed hotels and transfers bring us directly to the hotel door. However, you should be healthy and reasonably fit, physically capable of walking a minimum of 500m for some short walking tours, understanding that you are travelling to some high altitude areas. Some of the hotels we have chosen are on steep hills, or require you to walk uphill to reach the hotel. If you are looking for something more adventurous, we also offer a more challenging tour with some short trekking.

Who is organizing this tour?
This tour is being operated by Apus Peru Adventure Travel Specialists in conjunction with Threads of Peru.
Apus Peru is a well-respected, sustainable and environmentally conscious travel agency based in Cusco.
From the day that Apus Peru was founded by Fely Callañaupa and Ariana Svenson, they were committed to not perpetuating the exploitation they saw as endemic to the Peruvian travel industry.  Threads of Peru was subsequently founded as a way of ‘giving back’ and also supporting women’s empowerment and economic independence.  Threads of Peru staff will be supporting the tour, but the actual booking process and logistics of your tour will be done by Apus Peru.  The two organisations share the same office, therefore have excellent communication.
