The Tawa throw pillow is handwoven in fine alpaca fiber using an ancient weaving technique by indigenous weavers in the highlands of Peru. The name Tawa comes from the Quechua word for the Incan Empire, the Tawantinsuyu, and also literally means “4” (note the 4 color blocks on this decorative throw pillow…coincidence?)
WHO MADE THIS HANDWOVEN ALPACA PILLOW?
This Tawa Alpaca Throw Pillow was handwoven in the high Andean community of Pitukiska by the Mayu Chaska weaving association. Pitukiska is located about 4 hours away from Cusco in a windswept valley between mountain peaks in the Mapacho Valley.
