PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

The Chakana Alpaca Toque Chullo Hat, knit by hand in sumptuously soft handspun alpaca in natural undyed brown colors with Chakana pallay makes it a treasure of Andean history!

Known as chullos (pronounced chul-yoh) in Quechua, they were first made thousands of years ago out of necessity: temperatures in the high Andes often fall below freezing, with a biting wind that freezes your ears! The earflaps offer protection from the cold.

WHO MADE THIS CHAKANA ALPACA CHULLO HAT?

The Chakana Alpaca Chullo Hat is made by an indigenous artisan in the high Andean community of Pitukiska, with hand-spun natural alpaca fiber from free-range alpaca herds.
