The Qero Wool Table Runner was handwoven by Isabel Mamani in the high Andean community of Chaullacocha. It is a true example of traditional artisanship and mastery from the weavers of the Peruvian Andes.
Named for the symbols depicted, "qero" which is a ceremonial cup used in traditional Quechua festivities to serve and share Chicha, a fermented drink made of corn. This piece is a representation of the elements that are most frequent in their community and for which they thank the Pachamama (mother nature), like water represented by the lagoons, work by the horses and others.
Chaullacocha itself is one of the most remote communities we work with, located in a valley only accessible by foot or private transportation.
